We believe that community connections are vitally important and that our members should develop their skills in the community. We provide support to our members so that they can access places such as, stores, restaurants, the library, parks, and the YMCA. We help our members become the men and women they are meant to be!
Services are provided Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Class schedules change every 8 weeks and members choose classes that will help them meet their outcomes and long-term goals. Classes help our members develop their daily living skills such as cooking, money management, and cleaning. Other classes focus on healthy living, exercise, self-advocacy, friendship building, music, theater, and art.
Member schedules range from a 1/2 day per week to five days per week. Some members receive 1:1 staff support, while other members receive support in groups of five members, with one support person, depending upon the level of assistance that each person needs.
Some members use Washington County Shared Ride taxis to come to/from Our Place. Our Place also provides door-to-door transportation throughout most of Washington County for an additional fee. Transportation for classes located in the community is included in the daily rate. We have wheelchair accessible vehicles as well as cars and vans that we use to get out and about!
The Our Jobs Co-op is a co-op owned by people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. It was founded with the ideas that individuals with disabilities should do jobs that they are passionate about, work in the community, and earn at least minimum wage. Members of Our Place, who attend at least 18 hours per week or more, are considered owners of the Our Jobs Co-op. Owners have the opportunity to build their own small businesses called “micro-enterprises.” Our Place provides support to Our Jobs by billing customers, processing paychecks, maintaining worker’s compensation, and providing job coaching services.
Come for a tour to see if we are a good fit and complete an application. Individuals and high schools contract with us to purchase services. Most of our members are IRIS participants who self-direct our services.
